My work is inspired by structure, shape and time. I am drawn to physical spaces and the materials that are found there. The journey from pristine manufactured materiality to the distressed and used is a fundamental process in the evolution of the surface and atmospheric of these found objects.
I like the physicality of found materials/scrap and their visual and metaphorical possibilities. There is a residue of human presence evident within these places and things. This presence questions what materials were used for and by whom. These materials have been damaged, destroyed or discarded following various events that each object has travelled through. There conditions suggests an historical attachment that can be seen both on an intimate and universal scale. In removing materials from site you both pay regard to these histories and create new meanings and dialogues, thus encouraging individuals to reconsider everyday materials they might otherwise take for granted.
